Was just curious...does one have to have a license to live off the land..more specific..fish,deer,squirrel,wild hog...I see the license as a permit for sport but not as a day to day need to survive.

I'm pretty sure that the State considers certain animals their property and you must have a license to kill one of them. There are many animals that you can kill without a permit/license and those you are free to kill as many as you would like.

I have a few friends that kill several deer a year, but I'm thinking they are living a little ways outside of the law.......one of them does make some real good shine..........

If on your own land you can hunt/kill Deer, Squirrel, Rabbits, etc without a license or tag. (Deer used to be you still had to have a tag before moving it from where it fell, then you had to tag it with a piece of paper with your info before moving from where it fell, then if you just had it on your land and didn't transport it nothing was necessary)
