MARINE ASSIST policy change

I am going to post this here, as well as send an update to all my member policy guidelines for the 2013 boating season.

Due to logistical issues and other circumstances, MARINE ASSIST will no longer go into Jack's Branch proper in Harmon Creek during any of the major event weekends to assist boaters unless it is deemed a dire emergency and we are escorted by Water Patrol, etc.

Over the years, the party in Jack's Branch has become a safety issue for us trying to provide service to our customers while they are in there. We do not have the time to get involved in the parade of boats and have no desire to be yelled at, have items thrown at us and be accused of hitting boats.

It is my decision we will provide service only after the boater in need can get themselves to a position outside of the actual party zone. This is to minimize our liability exposure and to keep us as available as possible.

It has always been the towboat captain's decision as to whether we will provide service at any time due to safety concerns, but this will be a new policy change as a whole and will take effect immediately.

Sorry for any inconvienence this may cause and I hope you understand.

Don

You should never have been forced into having to make that decision. The whole tone of the lake has changed and not for the better, IMHO.. :(

I agree with Re3, I totally understand Marine Assist. Just listening to the VHF Saturday Denmark and I could tell it was not a good situation for a tow/assist boat to be in... The VHF made me VERY glad of my decision to stay at anchor where I was off the main lake.

Don't blame you Don! I've been back there a couple of times!
Good decision as far as I'm concerned. ;)

Things just aren't like "the good old days".

I think it's the moderators' fault. ;)
