Uhh that looks like a scary job down there on the bottom of the dam. Wonder why they are making a flat spot there. Are they removing a bunch of the fill for the platform or are they making a flat spot/road at that level just for the heck of it?

Here is an answer to what I posted above. I'm not putting a name to the answer unless they tell me I can. ;)
That is/was another access road they cut across the dam for earth moving equipment to work on the rip-rap. They are working on restoring the rip-rap below the platform now, so as you can see that road is disappearing as they work their way back across the face of the dam with the dozer and trackhoe. They are hauling the excess back over near the old Halcombs landing and filling in an area over there. I never really fully understood all the excavation work on the earth fill portion myself, except I know early on they had to cut the platform area out and make it wide enough for them to work. Thus they had to widen the earthfill portion below the platform to keep it at a certain slope so it wasn’t too steep and slide down into the lake....I think. I know they’ve spent a lot of time and effort (and money) on building up the rip-rap area before and during the project. Now they have to restore it back to original condition.
