Congrats E! I have that exact same truck in white only mine is a 2010. It's a great truck and I love driving it every day. Lots of power when your pulling a trailer and decent milage when crusing down the highway. Last trip I took to the lake I drove my truck and it got 16 mpg.

I guess I missed what the original complaint was that went unresolved with the Dodge.

My 2010 Dodge 3500 cab and chassis 4 dr tried to burn itself up in the McDonalds parking lot in the spring. The power distribution box under the hood had a computer board overheat and catch fire. I got the fire out only to find the truck was out of warranty for that part, so it cost me $900 to fix it and pay for it myself due to putting my own fire out. I traded it in on a 2012 Dodge cab and chassis 2 dr. The new truck has that blasted special exhaust system that requires DEF fluid about every 6000 miles. It also only gets about 13 MPG consistently. Dodges have been going downhill for years in the MPG department, with all the EPA regulations on diesels.

So far the check engine light has only come on twice in the new truck with no problem found. We'll see how it all works out. I try to buy the most simple work truck version I can so that it is not overly complicated, but that does not seem to work anymore.

Seems to be quite powerful but I have not opened it up all the way just yet.

Got 19mpg running between 70 and 80 on the way home (was told to not run over 80 until after 500 miles). If it is like any other diesel trucks the mileage will get even better. The duramax was revamped in 2011 and got the power spiked a lil more.

Don, for me it appears the DEF fluid will use about 20 gallons or less every 18000 miles. Every time the DPF on the ram however ran about 5 times a week or more. DEF is about $4 a gallon. Diesel is about $4 a gallon.
So about $80 a year of DEF vs about $624 in diesel a year in the Ram I had. My complaint with Chrysler was about a noted power loss. I had it reviewed several times over 20 months and the answer was it is working as designed. One shop noted the power loss but said it was only duing the DPF cycle. There is more to it than that but I won't get into it here. So much more that after posting this, I decided I would not sell the truck to anyone and would only trade it in to a auto group that carries the Chrysler/Ram line. The only reason I left it up here was so I could point dealerships to here for info on it. I did not mind letting them have it as if they carry the Chrysler line they can see the history on the vehicle easily when they pull the vin. They can also deal with the issues that Chrysler stated are working as desigend thus with clear concience I could give it back to them as they said there was not an issue anyway. lol All my other Dodge Rams were excellent and for their year were the up and up of Diesel trucks. However since 2008 it appears Chrysler/Ram has greatly declined. If i could do it all over again I would have just kept my 06 Ram and I would have been more than happy. I traded to the 2010 to get a 6 speed manual as my 06 was a automatic (only one I had had since 96) I hoped it would have been the last truck I would purchase for 10 years or so. ...but the "power" issues, having to replace the transmission, replacing the U bolts, and several other issues (all happening within 20k miles from new) not to mention things like it did not have a cabin air filter and always sucked other cars exhaust into the cab I decided it was time to move one.

Are you sure there is not an issue on your engine light or are they just telling you that? lol That was my experience. Anyway I hope having a automatic was not a mistake. On the way home it felt GREAT, truck stuck to the road like a car, still rode like a 3/4 ton but I wouldn't have it any other way. The MPGs are the best I have seen since my 02 Ram. Hopefully the Allison transmission is good. The duramax seems to be proven. Wish Dodge and Ford hadn't messed their engines up. I was looking at Fords but they have soooo many issues reported since they starting mixing up their engine design years ago I was scared to get one. Though I may have bought my truck in Brazil at least it wasn't a italian car company. :p

I am a GM guy at heart. I only drive the Dodge because of the Cummins, but Dodge and the government has put so many parameters on it in their body that I am wondering about it anymore.

Refusing to perform recalls and multitudes of other issues. Nope not talking about Toyota this time. This is the new Fiat Chrysler way. http://www.lex18.com/mobile2/news/chrys ... worldwide/
