I am getting ready to order a new Anchor, I need a #13, I found this one at Overtons http://www.overtons.com/modperl/product ... 008&r=view Just wondering if there is a better place to get one, and if anyone has any reviews on this anchor

The Box Anchor by Slide Anchor is the best I have ever seen. They are a little bulky but they do fold up to a fairly flat package. For a boat your size the small would be sufficient. You do not need any chain with it and the amount of rope needed is 2:1 instead of 7:1 with most other anchors.

I actually held three boats with only my anchor out in fairly stiff breeze and we never moved while others around us struggled to stay put all day.

LC I trust a 21 Lb. anchor just like what you posted to hold my HB (little more chain and larger rope) . I know they work and you will be fine at about 4 to1 on the rope. I have heard a lot of people talk about the box style. I don't know much about them, they may be fine for a runabout but I know the other style works great. The problem most people have is they put the anchor out where "they" want to stay not were it needs to be and it will never hold like that. 99% of the time the problem is with the person trying to anchor not the anchor.

We raft up with the same crew just about every wknd, and the anchors that tend to hold seem to be the ones like I've posted. My brother in law also has one that holds, not sure if it is considered a box anchor but the thing is so darn heavy you can barely pull it up. Are the box anchors heavy or is this another type that he has? If that is it, I dont want anything that heavy. I know where it would end up the first time I anchored out by myself, lol.

Suzy I use what you were looking at in your first post but I use the coated one. It works GREAT even without an anchor chain.

Ask Waterwings, at Poker run I was holding myself, my sisters boat, Waterwings Pontoon, and another in place but the wind was holding us sideways so the next boat that came up I asked to put one out on their end but it took them forever..
I sawed the ends down on the hinge part so that mine would fit in my anchor locker.
