Dangerous Situation at the Burnside Island Boat Ramp

Post by inthered »

This is a message about a dangerous situation at the Burnside Island boat ramp. There is a very large piece of carpet or something that stretches across about 3 lanes in the middle of the ramp. I got my prop tangled in it so I tried to tow it out of the way. However, it is attached to something submerged that is very heavy (like a boat or a trailer?), and I could not budge it. I marked it with a floatation device. I called & emailed COE & emailed Fish & Wildlife. :(

Marina/Ramp: Currently mostly out of Jamestown but spend a lot of time at the other Marinas.

Pre2012-Conley Bottom Mostly, Waitsboro, Alligator I&II ramps, Leesford, Pulaski County Park (when it has water), Grider, State Dock (via boat), and Jamestown are a few places you might find me.

Hmmm, there is a cable down there. Could it be wrapped up on it?
Buy American, the job you save just might be your own.

... it definitely wasn't a cable that snagged my prop -- but possibly the cable is holding that carpet or mat down. It is lurking just at & below the surface.
